The Ray School is seeking to hire an Instructional Coach beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. The Instructional Coach will support the school in meeting identified district and building strategic planning and continuous improvement goals. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding about research-based effective instruction for teachers.
The Instructional Coach, having both content and instructional expertise, will work as a colleague with teachers to build capacity in content and pedagogy. The Instructional Coach will be able to support ongoing content-focused professional learning coupled with content-specific coaching and feedback while also serving as an expert in sound instructional practice. The coaching process led by the Instructional Coach will deepen teachers’ content knowledge, improve and support teacher practice, and elevate student achievement.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:
- Meets with individual teachers and teams on an ongoing basis to collaboratively analyze, design, and positively impact student learning.
- Engages teachers in a coaching cycle (low-inference observations, personalized goal development, data-driven improvement, continued observation).
- Supports teachers' development by co-teaching, modeling, observing, and providing feedback.
- Develops teachers' capacity to meet the needs of diverse student populations.
- Support teachers in gathering relevant and reliable data to monitor progress and make instructional decisions.
- Develops positive working relationships with district and school staff, honoring confidentiality as appropriate.
- Influences change and improvement by introducing new ideas, making observations, questioning current practices, and exploring alternatives
- Works to develop and support a school- and district-wide coaching network.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administration regulation.
- Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, faculty meetings) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements.
- Participates in curriculum construction and revision and cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Contributes to the quality, positive culture, and effectiveness of the school and district by working individually and/or collaboratively with others.
- Maintains open lines of communication with parents in order to provide parents with information that will serve the best interests of students, and exercises discretion with information received from parents.
- Participates as a team member on special education Individual Education Plan (IEP) meeting team as requested and to implement individual education plans as required.
- Maintains state certification through approved professional development activities.
- Perform other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
- Must comply with all SAU 70 District policies and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of five years successful teaching experience preferred
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Willingness to continually learn new information and skills related to student learning and achievement, including content areas outside the current expertise
Effective interpersonal skills such as building rapport, actively listening, and giving and receiving feedback
Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Demonstrated skill in teaching and facilitating adult learners using a coaching model
Demonstrated expertise in effective teaching strategies
Flexible and willing to adapt to change
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology and instructional media tools.
Knowledge of child and adolescent development
Knowledge of testing instruments and their application to the academic setting
Knowledge of research based instructional interventions
Ability to collaborate with professionals, parents, and community
