Description

The schools of SAU 70 have an ongoing need for substitute classroom teachers and educational assistants in all subject areas and all grades, as well as nurse, clerical, food service, and custodial positions.

Interviews are conducted on a rolling basis, usually about once per month.

General Purpose:Provide instructional support in the absence of the regular teacher or support staff 

 

Reports to: Building principal

     

Supervises: n/a



 

 

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position:

  • Provide instructional support in the absence of the regular teacher or support staff
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
  • Follow lesson plans provided
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administration
  • Report any issues or concerns to the appropriate school personnel
  • Must comply with all SAU 70 District policy and building / department rules, procedures, practices and objectives.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Ability to successfully multitask within role.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer using standard or customized software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks.

The physical demands of an employee in a  role are minimal. The employee is occasionally required to do some lifting. Employee is typically able to sit and stand as needed.
